“Movements” – New Piano Album Out Now

Today Ive released a new solo piano album called “Movements”. It’s a collection of 25 pieces that are somewhere on the fringe of neo-classical, modern classical, modal and minimalist music.

Ive often gone on long streaks of writing a piano sketch each day. These pieces are mostly from those sketches. I recorded 30 pieces over the course of 4-5 days. Then decided to cut 5 pieces that didn’t really fit the flow of the album.

Since many of the pieces are sparse, moody and all about the “vibe”. It took several takes of each piece to find the right “vibe”. Mostly, I recorded with the soft pedal down the whole time and barely piayed over a whisper. Then boosted the volume during the mixing process.

Recording these pieces was a super intense process. When everything was so delicate, it was easy to get in my head about every little nuance. I may need a little break from recording after that.

I’m very grateful for all the support and messages about the singles I’ve been sharing leading up to this release. It means a lot to hear the nice words from everyone. So far the singles have been streamed over 28,000 times on Spotify. Thanks for listening and adding to your playlists. It is very much appreciated.
