Production

Looking for a music producer, mixer, or mastering expert to bring your artistic vision to life? Michael Stegner’s extensive experience in the music industry makes him the ideal partner for artists seeking to create polished, professional recordings.

Michael’s journey into music production began in the early 2000s with his solo electronic project, Manalive, in Seattle. Experimenting with electronic dance music on drum machines, computers, and keyboards, he crafted live performances that were sonically innovative. At the same time, he began mixing and producing his own jazz trio, songwriting, and piano recordings, along with projects for other musicians—unknowingly laying the foundation for a prolific career in production and mixing.

  • About: This beautiful song by Annalee started as a piano and voice song. She worked out an arrangement for the rhythm section. I wrote the horn arrangement. Then we went into the studio to track all the parts that were worked out in preproduction and rehearsals leading up to the session.

  • Roles: Co-Producer, Mixer, Mastering
  • About: This song started with a demo that Annalee and I changed quite a bit throughout the process of working on this one. We worked a lot over Zoom to get the arrangement and parts dialed in. Then I mixed and mastered it once she had recorded all the layers.

  • Roles: Co-Producer, Co-Mixer, Mastering
  • About: This project started during quarantine. Nick reached out and asked if I could mix a song with him over Zoom so that he could learn to eventually do it himself. The format of the sessions were often like “lessons”. Nick and I ended up collaborating on the production, arrangements, mixing and mastering. We did a few sessions in person to finalize mixes once everything was close to completion.

  • Roles: Production Lessons
  • About: Gallagher came to me years ago for piano lessons. During quarantine, our lessons morphed into Ableton and production lesson. He really went all in on the concepts and began creating some really beautiful tracks that combined the electronic music concepts we worked on along with classical piano. This track is part of his upcoming album and is the culmination of a lot of hard work by Gallagher.
